Inspiring and enriching through Drama and Theatre Arts.
The North Oxfordshire School of Drama provides excellent youth training in Acting, Devising and Performance. Based in the Oxfordshire Village of Steeple Aston we create a safe, nurturing and above all fun environment for children to build skills, not just for theatre but for life.
Our programme of study is built on sound educational values. This is reflected by our Principal, Jenny Stewart, who not only has 18 years of professional industry experience but is also a fully qualified teacher of Drama. In our sessions we aim to give our pupils a solid grounding in stage craft and acting skills. As they move through the stages they build on this foundation to become rounded performers who are confident with theatre and drama terms and how to put them into practice. NOSD is not a franchise and as such your child will have direct contact with the founder of school. In this way we ensure that our programme of work is of a consistently high level.
I am a passionate believer in Drama as a tool to build creativity and confidence in young people. The shared experience of creating and performing allows children to build valuable skills for life. In an educational enviroment where emphasis is increasingly focussed on academic achievments children need opportunities to build the soft skills that will help them in their futures as adults.
I have over 18 years experience working as an actor, teacher and workshop leader in the performing arts industry and I am delighted to be able to share this with the young people who attend NOSD.
Along with my work at NOSD I continue to work in the industry as an audio-describer at theatres across the West End. I am also a publice spekaing trainer with The Speaker's Trust and run in school workshops in the Oxfordshire area for pupils and teachers.
This experience feeds into everything NOSD does keeping us up to date with what is happening in the industry and informing our work.
In addition to this I am a fully qualified Secondary School Drama Teacher and a LAMDA instructor.
Qualifications: BA (Hons) Drama, University of Surrey. PGDip in Acting, Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, PGCert Manchester Metropolitan University. LAMDA registered teacher.

Steeple Aston Village Hall,
Here at The North Oxfordshire School of Drama we take our commitment to building a child’s confidence seriously. Drama is a collaborative and exposing process where participants need to feel safe and secure. We work hard to create an environment that is nurturing and respectful to all members of our school. Bad behaviour on any level is not tolerated and we reserve the right to dismiss a pupil from the school if we feel that they are behaving in a disruptive or disrespectful manner to either a member of staff or to another pupil.
Sanctions for disruptive behaviour are as follows.
In the first instance the teacher will speak to the child concerned and encourage them to improve their behaviour.
If there is no improvement the teacher will talk to the parents/carers seeking their support.
If there is still no change the parents/carers will received notification in writing that the child is to be dismissed from the school.
In the final instance no refund of fees will be paid.
Your child’s safety and security while in our care is of paramount importance to us. All of the staff at the North Oxfordshire School of Drama are fully CRB checked. In addition Principal Jenny Stewart has passed all current Child Protection training with the NSPCC.
